The start of 2017 has been incredibly kind to our three wineries with the release of Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate Northern California scores. The Easiest Spring Styles

Sometimes it feels like the seasons change over one weekend. We finally received some much needed rain over the past few weeks and this past week finally feels like spring has arrived (hello sunshine!).

With a new season, means a new wardrobe.
Which means finding time to scope out new pieces to add to your closet. Personally, I often don’t have time to take time and go out shopping. So I prefer getting some easy pieces that I know will last me a long time, will go with my existing pieces in rotation and easy enough to throw on for work or weekend.

This season was hard to narrow down my favorites, but a few that stood out can be versatile for most California weather well through fall and easy to become staples within a solid spring/summer wardrobe

  1. This shoe has recently become a Tory Burch favorite. The Lexington wedge is an easy style that you will live in almost year round – and is honestly comfortable. (Tory Burch)
  2. Sweater tank. I know what you’re thinking, a sweater for a warm weather season? But it’s a tank. And it’s a breathable woven. So it works  – really well. A great top to pair with cutoff denim shorts or tucked into some amazing joggers (as pictured).(360 Sweater)
  3. A perfect in season wash, and a relaxed fit are ideal for the coming months. This denim is your go-to-throw-on-with-any-top kind of pant that keeps it’s fit day to day. (Fidelity Denim).
  4. I’ll start by saying the picture does not do this one justice. This jumpsuit is hardly, a jumpsuit. On, it looks like a dress – flowy and ridiculously comfortable. So it’s absolutely perfect for bike rides and windy days. You’re welcome. (Tysa Designs)
  5. 5.   I’m happy that joggers are still on trend. (Okay, maybe I’m a little bias, since they typically are offered in shorter inseams and are ideal for my 5’3 self). Anyways, there are a great alternative to a denim since they’re a lighter pant and ultimately become your best friend when you bring on all your spring/summer vacations. (Velvet)

Happy Spring shopping!

The Carneros Inn Unveils $6.5 Million Renovation

PJNewsletter_Collage_March2016
The Carneros Inn in Napa Valley gets ready to unveil first phase of $6.5 million renovation, which includes a new wedding venue, enhancements to the family pool, new guest reception area, and refreshed cottages. Expected timeline of completion is early spring.

“We’re constantly striving to provide our guests at The Carneros Inn with the highest quality amenities and premier accommodations in Napa Valley,” says Vice President of Resort Operations, Philip Kendall. “These renovations showcase our efforts to complement the region’s distinct charm and our unique countryside location, and ultimately, are a testament to our goal of staying current and fresh among our loyal consumer base.”

Designed by Napa-based firm Shopworks, the new Guest Reception building is relocated near FARM restaurant. Guests will be welcomed with a new porte-cochère, water feature, and modern outdoor seating. The guest reception’s interior design will be an extension of the property’s charming countryside appeal with white battened walls, a front desk made of walnut with Carrera marble top, oversized mirrors to reflect the surrounding scenery, fresh cut flowers, orange and white furniture, as well as limestone flooring. By June 2016, the former guest reception area near the Hilltop Dining Room will be converted into two 500-square-foot owners’ lounge and board meeting space.

The Wedding Garden, the property’s main outdoor wedding venue, will receive a $1 million renovation with significant enhancements that include a beautifully planted trellis, an opulent water feature, lavish exterior landscaping, as well as drought tolerant and heel friendly turf, all of which overlook the surrounding Napa Valley vineyards and mountains. On the other end of the 27-acre property, the Family Pool will add an elevated deck with a shade trellis, new luxury padded lounges and furniture, fresh paint, and lush landscaping.

Additionally, the property’s 86 cottages and 10 suites are undergoing more than $2.8 million in soft renovations. The first phase to 40 cottages will be completed in 2016, with the remaining cottages completed in 2017. Keeping in line with the existing sun-washed space, the cottages will receive a lighter and crisper neutral color palette, including charcoal grey, white, dark purple, and accents with the Carneros orange. Bathroom renovations will include new heated tile flooring, counter-tops, bathroom fixtures, and soaking tubs. The cottages will also receive contemporary furniture and lighting, as well as soft goods, such as bedding, drapes, and accessories. Lastly, the cottages will install new TVs and media packages. The Hilltop pool will also add stylish lounge seating and eight cabanas, and the onsite gym will receive new flooring later this year.

Robert Parker Releases Wine Scores for 2015

We have some exciting news to share – the latest reviews from Robert Parker were published recently and we are humbled and honored by Mr. Parker’s reviews of our wines from all three wineries: Odette Estate, PlumpJack Winery, and CADE Estate. We were already so proud of Aaron Miller, Danielle Cyrot, and Jeff Owens and the wine they produced– and Robert Parker’s words simply reinforce that. Take a look at his reviews below!

2013 PlumpJack Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
100 points
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Estate Oakville is 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot aged in 100% new French oak. This is perfection and an absolutely amazing effort. The wine is dense purple with sweet tannin, oodles of blueberry and blackberry fruit caressed by toasty new oak, and a full-bodied multi-dimensional mouthfeel — akin to a skyscraper in the mouth, but without any heaviness. The finish goes on for a good 45+ seconds, and the wine is super-pure and majestic. Truly a tour de force in Cabernet Sauvignon. Kudos to Plumpjack. Drink 2018-2040.

2013 PlumpJack Cabernet Sauvignon Estate – 96 points
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Oakville is a blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot aged in 80% new French oak. A beautiful, saturated purple color offers up blackberry, crème de cassis, licorice, charcoal and camphor. Full-bodied, yet still youthful and tight, it is bursting with terrific purity, texture and length. This big, classic Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon will hit its prime in 10-15 years, and last 30 or more years, based on how older vintages from this sector have aged. It’s a beauty.

2013 PlumpJack Syrah – 91 points
PlumpJack’s delicious 2013 Syrah, which is 100% Syrah aged in 65% new French oak, tips the scales at 15% alcohol. It offers a dense purple color, a big, sweet kiss of blackberry and cassis liqueur, and touches of licorice and underbrush. It is full-bodied, opulent, and best drunk over the next decade or more.

2013 PlumpJack Merlot – 90 points
A sexy, seductive wine, Plumpjack’s 2013 Merlot (92% Merlot and 8% Malbec aged in 65% new French oak) is soft and round, shows juicy, plum, mocha and black cherry fruit, is low in acidity, lush and a total hedonistic turn-on. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.

2013 CADE Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley – 92 points
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon (77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Malbec and 15% Petit Verdot, tipping the scales at 15.1% alcohol) has an inky purple color, a beautiful nose of blueberry and blackberry fruit, licorice and spring flowers. It is complex, rich, full-bodied, opulent, sexy and lush. This is a 2013 to drink now, as well as cellar for 10-15+ years.
nike free run womens shoes
2013 CADE Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve – 97 points
Lastly, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Howell Mountain (100% Cabernet Sauvignon with a screw cap) tips the scales at 15.9% alcohol. This is another stunningly proportioned, majestic mountain Cabernet, with mulberry, blueberry, blackberry and floral notes that is concentrated, full-bodied and multilayered. This skyscraper-like Cabernet Sauvignon is majestic, super-pure and a stunner. The alcohol is totally hidden, so unless you’re paranoid, simply see the number, and have an immediate loss of reason, this is a beautiful, full-throttle, full-bodied wine that is impeccably well-balanced, with great purity, depth and concentration. Drink it over the next 15-20 years.

2013 CADE Cabernet Sauvignon Estate
94 points
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain has an inky purple color to the rim and represents a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot. Gloriously pure notes of mulberry, graphite, blackberry and blueberry soar from the glass and cascade over the palate. The wine is full-bodied, there is nary a hard edge to be found in this opulent, velvety texture, pure, rich, stunning Cabernet Sauvignon. It finishes impressively, and the wine is capable of lasting 15-20 years, although it’s certainly accessible now.

2013 Odette Estate Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve – 99 points
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve picks up the power at 15.6% alcohol, but also has a slightly more saturated opaque/purple color. The wine has a glorious nose of graphite, white flowers, blueberries and blackberries and licorice followed by a full-bodied wine with great precision and delineation, super freshness, vibrancy, and compelling richness and extraction. The finish goes on for a good 55 seconds. This is flirting with perfection in a real serious way. Drink it over the next 25-30 years.

2013 Odette Estate Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Estate – 95+ points
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate exhibits graphite, blackberry and cassis, chocolate and a touch of mineral in a full-bodied, layered and impressively pure style. It’s a big wine for Stags Leap (15.4% alcohol), but gorgeously pure, with everything well-knit into a sensational equilibrium. This is only a baby, but promises to hit its peak in 7-10 years and last 25-30.

Redefining Your Winter Wardrobe

This winter season here in Napa, we are yet again hoping for a season of true cold weather conditions and an abundance of rain. And while we’ll most likely at least get cooler temperatures, that’s a good enough reason for us to wear our winter coats and scarves. However, whether you’re here on the west or east coast, we all have become accustomed to reaching for the same neutral winter color palette and often fail to incorporate other colors that are often available but we tend to overlook.air jordan xvi

Behind The Threads: Road Twenty-Two

We have long been a fan of locally made products, especially clothing. So when we discovered this gem of a company based in San Francisco, that creates perfect fitting tees while carrying out their mission in which the brand was built upon: employing women who have faced challenges in their life, including previously incarcerated women in the Bay Area, we knew had to place an order right away. We especially love Road Twenty Two’s enormous philanthropic effort in creating jobs for women within the brand and love all the super soft fabrics they use that make you feel the need to buy the same tee in five colors (not that that is necessarily a bad thing…).

We spoke more about the line with Road Twenty Two CEO, Fif Ghobadian for this month’s, ‘Behind The Threads’.

1.       What has been your biggest accomplishment with Road Twenty Two?
air jordan retro 13
The biggest accomplishment is when we see customer and store feedback that is equally as passionate about our mission and product as we are. When we see people on the streets wearing our Tees and when we hear people talking about our brand with pure love. Also, it is beyond gratifying to employ amazing women who deserve every opportunity but are unfortunately are black balled by the system.

2.       Besides the fantastic foundation in which the line is built upon, how do your shirts set themselves apart from other t-shirt brands?

Our shirts are created from luxurious US fabrics which have been washed in enzymes for ultra softness.  Road 22 shirts fit to perfection the skim the body, cling in all the right places and fit most body types.  The shirts are casual yet polished, fashionable not trendy and can be take you from day into evening.

3.       How do you see the line evolving within five years?

Our vision is to expand our line beyond Tees for women to all knits, button down shirts and cashmeres. We will continue to expand our men’s line next and then eventually we will have a kid’s line. We are going to be a national brand known for our high quality products and for creating a social movement of giving people a second chance and putting them back into society.

4.       We love that Road Twenty Two is produced entirely in San Francisco. What do you find most special about this aspect within the brand
nike air max 90 all white
We are supporting a local community and its wonderful to bring back garment manufacturing to San Francisco. We can just walk over to see our  shirts being produced and we have our pulse on every step of the production.

5.       Do you see the line spanning beyond knit tees and basics in the future?
