The PlumpJack Group is excited to announces the purchase of an 82-acre Howell Mountain vineyard and winemaking facility from Ladera Vineyards, which will be a natural extension of CADE Estate Winery, the first organically farmed LEED Gold Certified winery estate in Napa Valley founded by partners John Conover, Gavin Newsom and Gordon Getty. The acquisition is an ideal step for the ongoing evolution of The PlumpJack Group viagra generique prix pharmacie tunisie and CADE as a highly successful producer of acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyard is planted to 74 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and three acres of Sauvignon Blanc, providing a significant increase in premium quality, estate vineyard grapes for the CADE winemaking team. As part of the acquisition, Ladera Vineyards will continue to source fruit from the vineyard moving forward.

“This is an extraordinarily exciting step for us as we approach CADE Estate’s tenth vintage,” said John Conover, managing partner and general manager of CADE Estate Winery. “We are honored to assume the responsibility for the stewardship of this remarkable piece of land. It is a beautiful property that has been impeccably planted and farmed, and is now producing some of the best fruit in the Napa Valley.”

Located atop Howell Mountain at an elevation of more than 1,600 feet, the vineyard has been producing high quality grapes since 1877. In addition to acquiring the vineyards, the purchase includes the historic production facility, which CADE Estate Winery plans to use for elevated guest experiences and private events. Ladera Vineyards will continue to host tours and tastings at the winery through the end of the year and produce their 2016 vintage on-site. While CADE is purchasing a vineyard and winemaking facility from the Stotesbery family, it is not acquiring Ladera Vineyards, which will continue to make Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc from select hillside and mountain vineyards.

“While we have loved our role as the stewards of this special place, because our children have decided to pursue careers outside of wine, our Howell Mountain home had grown a bit big for us,” said Pat Stotesbery, Ladera’s Proprietor. “This sale will ensure that this remarkable vineyard and its winery are in great hands for decades to come, while allowing us to focus all of our energies on making the best wines possible for Ladera.”

The historic Howell Mountain winery, the 13th bonded winery in California, was one of the valley’s early gravity-flow facilities featuring the most modern technology of the era. “As leaders in green grape growing, winemaking and architectural practices today,” said Conover, “we feel a special kinship with this winery and the founders’ commitment to modernity and relevancy.”

Typical of Howell Mountain, the vineyard boasts rich, volcanic soils that produce bold, fruit-forward Cabernet Sauvignon and fresh, crisp Sauvignon Blanc. CADE Estate Winery will continue to produce its flagship varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc under the leadership of Winemaker Danielle Cyrot.

“This expansion of CADE Estate Winery speaks to the passion of The PlumpJack Group,” said Gavin Newsom, partner of The PlumpJack Group. “We are proud to continue the legacy of this extraordinary Howell Mountain estate.”

The acquisition of the Howell Mountain vineyard and winemaking facility adds to The PlumpJack Group’s impressive portfolio of award-winning wines, innovative restaurants and luxury resorts, each with a focus on the individual experience. “It has always been in PlumpJack’s growth plan to expand our presence in Northern California wine country, and we couldn’t have found a better fit with the acquisition of the neighboring vineyards from Ladera,” said Jeremy Scherer, co-president of The PlumpJack Group. “Not only is the vineyard and the land spectacular, we are very excited about expanding CADE Estate’s offerings.”

About CADE Estate
Perched high upon Napa Valley’s Howell Mountain among a dramatic hillside of Manzanita trees, CADE Winery is a unique, state-of-the-art facility producing an exquisite Estate Cabernet as well as an enticing Sauvignon Blanc and a rich Cabernet Sauvignon from local artisanal grapes. Having received its Gold LEED certification in 2009, CADE is the greenest winery estate in California. The name CADE derives from a Shakespearean term used for an oak cask or barrel. The estate comprises more than 54 acres, 21 of which were planted as vineyards in 2003. CADE is dedicated to the production of world-class wines through environmentally conscious innovation and is one of the architectural showplaces of Northern California’s wine country.

Conversations with Hilary: Hilary Newsom

decided to start the Conversations with Hilary series so I could feature incredibly interesting people that inspire me and who thought were making a positive impact in the community. The extraordinary people that I have been lucky enough to interview range from NFL superstars to actors, artists, musicians and philanthropists. After almost two years of this series and thousands of page views on the PlumpJack Blog, I feel honored with the response I have received from the audience. My favorite part is getting to know my friends a lot better as they thoughtfully consider the answers to my questions. It was only recently that it occurred to me that I had never done the exercise of answering the questions myself. If you know me, I am mostly an open book, but for those of you who want to know a little bit more about who I am and what I am passionate about, well then, here it is, my version of Conversations with Hilary, featuring ME!air max 90 premium

My daughters Talitha and Siena – they are growing into compassionate young ladies, who care about others in a genuine way. This is all I could ever hope for as a parent! And I am proud of my strong marriage to my husband Geoff Callan, one of the most loving and hilarious people I have ever known.new balance 996

Do you have a prized possession?
I have a Cartier “love bracelet” that belonged to my mom. She gave it to me to borrow when she was undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. One of the best days for me was when I gave it back to her when she was in remission. Sadly, I have the bracelet back on, for good, since loosing my mom to cancer in 2002.

What qualities do you think others love about you?
I think people would say I am loyal and (mostly) kind! I think I am occasionally funny, but maybe that is just wishful thinking.womens nike free run

If you could do anything other than what you currently do, what would it be?
Philanthropy brings me great joy, so I would love to eventually run the PlumpJack Foundation. This will happen, I just need more time!

I am in the business of making people happy. When I came to PlumpJack to work for my brother Gavin, I never imagined I would be here 19 years later and still having so much fun! What is there not to like about the world of hospitality.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Reflect on how many times my two toy poodles woke me during the night! Then revisit the very vivid dreams I had.

What’s your favorite thing to do on a Friday night?
Have dinner at my best friend Lori Puccinelli Stern’s house. She is a great cook and throws a great dinner party!

The Hilary Gin and Tonic, that you can currently order at Forgery – although I mainly drink Cade Sauvignon Blanc and PlumpJack and Cade Cab’s.

Conversations with Hilary: Gavin & Jennifer Newsom

Although my brother and I are close and we see each other often, I was still excited to have him participate in my monthly, Conversations with Hilary. I was even more excited when his wife, Jennifer, agreed to be part of the monthly series – a two for one. I am biased, but I happen to think my brother and Jennifer are pretty terrific – individually and as a couple. My brother, the founder of PlumpJack, who has also worked his way up in California politics from a commissioner, to supervisor and then Mayor of San Francisco, to now Lieutenant Governor of California and candidate for Governor in 2018. Jennifer is an award-winning filmmaker and CEO of The Representation Project. This highly accomplished pair is expecting their fourth child in the winter, and my two nieces and nephew are just thrilled to have a baby sibling on the way!

What’s the story behind the PlumpJack Wine Store?

PlumpJack Wine Store was started in 1992 as the first business for the PlumpJack Group, by then founder Gavin Newsom. It’s mission is to make the wine-buying experience approachable and to remove the intimidation factor. In 1992 we had more than 100 wines priced at under $10 per bottle. We now have more than 300 selections that are $25 or under and an expansive collection of spirits and domestic craft beers.

What is a little known secret(s) about your business?
If you buy a bottle of wine from the wine store and take it across the street to the Balboa Cafe, there is no corkage fee. And we will deliver your wine and spirits for FREE in San Francisco proper for all orders over $100. Gift wrapping and enclosure cards are complimentary.

Can you tell us a little about your clubs?

Our Monthly Wine Club (2 bottles) has been operating for more than 20 years, and in that time we have featured wines from all over, from California and Oregon to France, Portugal, Greece and beyond. Our members love that the club gives them a chance to discover new wines from different regions every month. These wines are carefully chosen and are always small production, hand-crafted wines with unique stories.

Our Red Rogues (not rouge) club is a quarterly club that no one else is doing. This is where we pick three red wines that have a unique combination of character, varietal, viticulture, and appellation that members can experience the difference in style and terroir. For example, past features have included three Amarones from Italy; three Pinot Noirs from Oregon; or three different Shiraz from the same winemaker, but from different appellations. It’s a fabulous way to compare and contrast wines that have similarities but display differences as well.

The Case Club is a perfect way to design your own parameters on a monthly or bi-monthly time frame so that you always have a stash of wine to drink, to give as a gift, or to take to someone’s house. Become a member if you don’t have time to shop, if you have unexpected guests frequently, or you are tired of grocery store selections. You set the pricing parameters as well as the varietal type, countries, all red, all white, all rose, or all sparkling—then we do the work so you don’t have to trouble yourself with parking or picking up. We deliver right to your door.
