As someone who loves buying gifts for people rather than myself, I especially enjoy getting gifts for my best friends. Having been scouring the internet for the past month, I’ve come across quite a few piece that I know they would love.
This blanket literally feels like, if a cloud and a hug had a baby. Need I say more?
Raw cut druzy stone earrings offer the right amount of sparkle and dimension. P.S. This collection is all handmade in the Bay Area.
As you know, the Napa Valley was struck by a 6.0 earthquake early Sunday morning. While people throughout the Bay Area experienced the tremors, it was Southern Napa and surrounding areas that were hit the hardest. Despite the significant damage that was done, and the injuries that occurred, the Napa Valley is filled with strong, hard working individuals that came together and worked tirelessly minutes after the quake to make sure their neighbors and community were safe.
Additionally, thanks to the incredibly quick response of CalTrans, the roads are all accessible, and traffic was at a minimum all day Sunday and on Monday when I was driving to check on our properties. We are tremendously grateful that our businesses were so lucky to survive any real damage. Residents of the Napa Valley are a very close knit community and we are heartbroken for our friends and neighbors who have not been so lucky. We encourage you to show your support for Napa by paying a visit to those businesses who have worked hard to open their doors this week. Go to Visit Napa Valley for a list of all the Napa Valley businesses that are open and welcoming guests. Each and every one of Napa’s residents and businesses are in our thoughts and prayers, and we hope to help them in any way we can in the coming days and weeks.
Memorial Day is all about loving what you’ve got. It’s an opportunity to step back, slow down, and spend time with the people who make you feel great. It’s a chance to raise a glass to those who have fought for our country and commemorate the freedom with which we are blessed. That being said, Memorial Day is often all about the family and friends feast. This year we wanted to give you some pairing pointers on how eat well and share the love! Our buddy Kelly at PlumpJack Wine and Spirits Noe Valley compiled this lovely list for you:
Pairing with Pork: Six Wines That Go Well With Swine
Unti Syrah – there’s always room for a nice juicy and peppery Syrah at the cook-out table. We can imagine many pairings, but the one that keeps sticking out is juicy, bacon-topped hamburger straight from the grill.
Melville Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir – Cherries are always a nice accompaniment to pork, this time it’s packed in your Pinot. How about a juicy pork chop brined and then thrown on the grill with a nice char and a full flavored Pinot to wash it all down. Succulent pork belly sliders anyone?
Ridge Sonoma County Zinfandel – The perfect compliment with a rack of smoky ribs. The robust zinfandel flavor with hints of boysenberry gives the ribs that extra kick.
CADE Cabernet Sauvignon – The blueberry undertones work well with pulled pork sandwiches.
Sean Thackrey Sangiovese – Sip on this with spicy fennel sausages.
Joseph Swan Cotes du Rhone – Perfect alongside some teriyaki pork kebabs.
All wines mentioned are available at both PlumpJack Wine and Spirit locations.
