Bring on the new year.2011 gets started today, January 10, 2011. Kind of a peculiar date to start the New Year huh? Well, in my world today is a historical day and something that I have been looking forward to for quite a long time, in fact something is going to happen today that has never happened before. My name is Ryan Keith, I am the Marketing Manager for PlumpJack Winery and CADE Estate, I am from Salem Oregon and a graduate of the University of Oregon and today my Oregon Ducks play in the BCS National Championship game against the Auburn Tigers. Yes, once this game is complete, win, lose or draw I will be ready to put 2010 behind me and focus on 2011. But alas, the game has not happened yet, even though, by the time you read this it most certainly will have but I digress lets take a look back at the fond memories of 2010.
Well, aside from the fact that the Oregon Ducks went 12-0 during the regular season of College Football in 2010 things here in Napa Valley couldn’t have been more exciting. We started the year off with the release of our 2007 PlumpJack Estate Cabernet which at that time was our highest Robert Parker Rated Estate Cabernet Sauvignon to date. We then quickly filled our books with some amazing events throughout California and nationwide. The highlight event would have to be the Release Date of our 2007 CADE Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. This was the first vintage of CADE Estate and what made the day even more special was the fact that a week before the celebration we received notice that we achieved our LEED Gold Certification from the United States Green Business Council making us the first LEED Gold Winery Estate in California. This meant very much to me having seen CADE built from the ground up and to know all the work that went into making CADE Estate one of if not the greenest wineries in America. We spent nearly 5 years trying to achieve this goal and to see it come to fruition was something that I will take with me forever.
Other 2010 highlights included Auction Napa Valley 2010 where our Live Auction Lot sold for somewhere in the vicinity of $70,000 with the proceeds used to raise money for numerous charity organizations in Napa Valley. We also saw the release of our 2007 PlumpJack Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. I mentioned Robert Parker earlier in this blog; well I have never seen his influence so great than seeing the anticipation for this wine. You see he rated this wine 99pts!! One point off of perfection. To see the demand for this wine was truly astonishing. Never in my short life have I seen a wine come and go in such a blink of an eye. We also hosted a 100 person dinner in the caves at CADE in celebration of the V Foundation.

Well I got a little side tracked, I am sure you now know that my Oregon Ducks lost in the National Championship game so I guess it is now officially time to start focusing on 2011. We have lots of great stuff on the horizon and we hope that you will be able to join us sometime over the new year. We are excited to get a winemaker dinner series started at CADE Estate as well as the many release parties we have scheduled. Our first release will be February 5th at PlumpJack Winery for our 2008 PlumpJack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. Then, please keep your calendar open for May 7th as we release our 2008 CADE Estate Cabernet Sauvignon at CADE Estate. This could be the only time of the year we will be pouring this very popular wine. Finally we hope to see you up at CADE as we introduce a new cave tasting experience for small groups.
In all, lots of really cool stuff up and coming here in Napa. Please don’t be strangers we hope to see you in Napa soon!
Plan your visit now to PlumpJack Winery.
