Josh, PlumpJack Winery Tasting Room Manager, recaps the 2007 PlumpJack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Release Party.
On Saturday February 6, 2010 from 10-3 PlumpJack Winery celebrated the release of the 2007 PlumpJack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon at PlumpJack Winery. This is a huge day for the town of Oakville as our neighboring wineries including Silver Oak and Far Niente have events going on as well. For me I always look forward to this highly anticipated event. I get the pleasure to catch up with my favorite PlumpJack/CADE customers, showcase our new release and spend time with the owner of PlumpJack Mr. Getty.
The day started out with heavy rain falling down on the small town of Oakville, so we were a little worried about our turnout. No need to worry, our first visitors arrived at 9am! An hour before we even open but we let them in anyways because you have to respect their enthusiasm. Tasting on this day is a little different because we start the tasting in our cellar with our Assistant Winemaker Jeff Owens. Jeff was pouring our always popular PlumpJack Reserve Chardonnay out of Screw Cap. While getting a chance to taste our 2008 PlumpJack Reserve Chardonnay customers were given a tour of our cellar. We don’t offer a tour at PlumpJack Winery due to our small size, so this was something special for our guests.

From the tasting/tour in our cellar guests then made their way to our tasting room were they were able to taste the 2007 PlumpJack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, which was rated 95 Points by Robert Parker Jr. PlumpJack/CADE Winemaker Tony Biagi was on hand signing bottles and greeting customers with our consulting Winemaker Nils Venge. We also had in attendance PlumpJack’s owners Gavin Newsom and Gordon Getty. It was so great to see our loyal customers enjoying our latest offering of Cabernet Sauvignon while getting a chance to get their purchases signed by Mr. Getty and Mr. Newsom. For me the highlight of the event was when PlumpJack owner Gordon Getty got behind the bar to sing two of his favorite songs “Danny Boy” & “Summertime”, to the packed house. I still have ringing in my ears from the standing ovation Mr. Getty got from all PlumpJack /CADE fans. Thank you to all our loyal customers who helped make this event a success!
