PlumpJack lives life out loud. And so do our Holiday Sweaters. Please enjoy this photo from our recent General Managers meeting while it is live, as we have a feeling a few PlumpJack Managers may ask us to remove it.

A winter skin care dilemma from PlumpJack Communications Manager, Michelle Curtis.
Baby it's cold outside! The warmth of holiday parties has passed and New Year's Eve is hours away. The dry air, celebratory glasses of champagne and excessive travel have taken their toll! What does one do when they need hydrated glowing skin in less than 36 hours? Edgar from The Spa at The Carneros Inn has one sure fire recommendation The Air Repair Skin Care set.
"I would do the Air Repair. It has Hyaluronic Acid that holds water molecules together which gives excellent hydration. The reason I recommend this one for winter is because it is all airplane safe! So many people travel this time of year and you can clip it ot your carry on or toss it in your luggage and there is not problem! It has a cleanser, eye cream, facial misty (great to spray while on plane to keep hydrated at such a high altitude), moisturizer and balm (great for lips, cuticules and dry patches of skin). So this is the only thing you need to bring with you and you have your entire facial regimen!"
Phew! Thanks Edgar. Now I just need to figure out what to wear on the plane... off to PlumpJackSport!

Holiday treats arrived early in the form of exciting news from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. December is his yearly review of Napa Valley and both PlumpJack and CADE received incredible scores and very high praises.
2007 CADE Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain 95+ pts
2007 cade Napa Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon 91+ pts
2007 CADE Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain 90+ pts
2007 PlumpJack Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 99 pts
2007 PlumpJack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 95 pts
2007 PlumpJack Syrah 93+ pts
2007 PlumpJack Merlot 92 pts
Here are a few notes from his review...
2007 CADE Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain 95 pts
This is our very first release of this wine. When we had purchased this vineyard back in 2005 no other winery had ever made wine from this phenomenal site so not only is this the first Estate Cabernet Sauvignon produced by CADE but it is the very first wine produced and released from our Estate. Also of note, the very first PlumpJack Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was the 1995 vintage and it also received 95 points and we all know the path that PlumpJack has gone down. Needless to say we are extremely excited about our first Parker rating but even more excited to taste future vintages of this wine as our vineyard matures and evolves.
2007 cade Napa Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon 91+ pts
Once again Mr. Parker marvels at our selection of vineyards to blend into this wine making it one of Napa Valley’s finest values.
2007 CADE Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain 90+ pts
While reading Mr. Parker’s review of our third bottling of our Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon one sentence really stands out; “..is closed at present, but appears to be loaded with potential.” This note really stands out because of the + symbol associated with the score. This is certainly a wine of remarkable opulence and intensity and we can’t wait to release and taste this wine next summer when it is released with a tad more bottle age.
2007 PlumpJack Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 99 pts
Yeah, not much we can say here. Back in December of 2007 we knew we had a special wine being barreled down and it is so exciting to see two+ years of detailed work pay off with such high praises. This is our highest score we have ever received by a full 3 points by Parker. This score makes us so happy. If you would like to pass on your congrats to our winemaker Tony Biagi you can email him at tbiagi@plumpjack.com. With all that being said, please remember we only made 500 cases of this wine and it will be released September 2010.
2007 PlumpJack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 95 pts
This is the highest rated PlumpJack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon we have received to date. It also happens to be our wine with the largest production at PlumpJack but at the same time the most sought after. With a retail price point of $78/bottle it is tough to find a better value.
2007 PlumpJack Syrah 93+ pts
Beyond the 93+ point score given to our Syrah by Mr. Parker are the flattering remarks noted in his tasting notes; “One of Napa Valley’s finest Syrah’s is PlumpJack’s offering”. The PlumpJack Syrah is not a favorite amongst our loyal customers for nothing.
2007 PlumpJack Merlot 92 pts
Did we read this correctly? A Merlot that received 92 points? No way, could it be? Well don’t act so surprised, it’s delicious, always has been and we are looking forward to its resurgence.
Without further ado here are Mr. Parker’s detailed notes on all of our wines. Please note that in Parker’s wine notes, the notes for the PlumpJack Reserve are next to the PlumpJack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon score and the PlumpJack Estate notes are next to the PlumpJack Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon score.

PlumpJack Winery and CADE Winery harvest notes from Winemaker Tony Biagi...
PlumpJack Harvest
There are two great feelings during harvest 1) the day you start and 2) the day the last load of grapes finds its way into the auger. In 2009 that day was October 25th. Harvest is now completed at PlumpJack Winery and as of this writing we have two tanks still macerating. Most of the 2009 red wines have been barreled down and the whites have been racked and sulphured. I am just going into the cellar for the first time and tasting the fresh 2009 wines. At this point I feel we have a very strong vintage in barrel. The rains, which fell in mid October, did not affect the quality of the wine. The wines at this stage are black and teeth staining but tannins are supple and round. If I had to compare it to a vintage I would say a hypothetical blend of 2007 and 2006.
Right now in the cellar at PlumpJack we are sanitizing crush equipment and putting it away for winter. Jeff Owens, PlumpJack’s, assistant winemaker has been in charge of racking the 2008 PlumpJack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. There is a old saying in Napa “when the wind blows out of the north it is time to rack.” This will be the last time the 2008 will be racked and blended until before bottling. After that we fall into a quiet sleepy time for the 2 weeks during and after Christmas. The cellar crew takes time off and we all recharge our batteries for the 2010 year. Harvest is only 8 months away.
Cade Harvest
Cade harvest was a long one. Starting August 20th and finishing on October 31st this was our most intense harvest on Howell Mountain. As of writing, we have four tanks on skins. All other tanks have been pressed and put to barrel for Malolactic fermentation.
Quality across the board is very high for the 2009 vintage. I even feel that the 2009 cade cuvee can be better than the 2007 version. The Howell Mountain wines at this point are very similar to 2007. Only time will tell if we can achieve the heights of 2007.
In the cellar we are currently racking the 2009 Sauvignon Blanc’s and adding S02. These wines will be blended and racked in January and bottled in March. After that we will be racking and blending the 2008 Cade Cuvee, 2008 CADE Howell Mtn and the 2008 Cade Estate Cabernet Sauvignon.

The week before Christmas has us bottling the 2007 CADE estate Cabernet Sauvignon. It will be a short run but we are very excited to get this wine to bottle. In the end harvest is always a time of rebirth. I am confident that the 2009 vinatge will be another successful vintage for CADE winery.

PlumpJack "Decked the Hall" last week with the San Francisco Symphony. Community businesses, schools and not for profits from around San Francisco joined together in decorating trees that lined the windows looking over Van Ness and Grove Streets. After a Tree Lighting Ceremony on Wednesday, December 3rd, children from all around the Bay Area gathered on Sunday, December 6th, to learn about holiday music from around the world. Performances, led by Conductor Randall Craig Fleischer and the San Francisco Symphony, included the San Francisco Boys Chorus, American Conservatory Theater, San Francisco Ballet Trainee Program, Chhandam Youth Company and The New Klezmorim. Proceeds from the event benefit the San Francisco Symphony and its education and community program, such as Deck the Hall Community Day, when the Deck the Hall performance is repeated free of charge for 2,000 underserved children.
